Brooklyn Travel Group’s collection of specialist tour operators and travel agents has collected 14 awards in the 2022 British Travel Awards, including seven Gold, five Silver and two Bronze, following a public vote that ran from July through October this year.
My Canada Trips, Canterbury Travel, Santa Claus Trips and the high street travel agent Stewart Travel, with shops across Scotland and Northern Ireland, all won Gold across several categories. For Stewart Travel, this is the third time in a row that the chain has been voted the UK’s Best Travel Agent.

Each unique bauble is made from recycled glass and with the dated ribbon and different annual designs they are becoming something of a Christmas family tradition.

Full Steam Ahead with Steam Dreams at Waterloo
We were chuffed to be launching the first regular steam train service in modern history out of Waterloo station earlier in April.
The steam locomotive Mayflower and vintage carriages arrived into Platform 19, Waterloo Station, London on Tuesday 9th April 2019 with canapés and drinks served in Pullman Style Dining carriages. We welcomed journalists, bloggers and TV channels ITV, BBC London and London Live – you may have caught them interviewing Marcus or Claire – or having a tour of the brilliant Mayflower engine!
This summer, The Steam Dreams Rail Co. will launch The Royal Winsor Steam Express, the first regular steam train service in modern history from London Waterloo to Windsor. The company is also launching the The Sunset Steam Express, a sunset dining experience through the picturesque Surrey Hills. Both trips will run from 4th June to 3rd September 2019.
Both trains on these experiences will usually be pulled by a B1 Class Locomotive – ‘Mayflower’ – built in 1948 and sporting its original British Rail apple green livery.
The Royal Windsor Steam Express will leave Waterloo at 08.02, 11.10 and 14.10 every Tuesday. This is the first time in modern history a regular steam service has operated between Waterloo and Windsor. There will be three classes of travel including elegant 1950’s Pullman Style Dining carriage as well as comfortable First Class Restaurant Cars.
Tickets start at £35 up to £85 per person for the Pullman Style Dining experience with Champagne brunch. Table service for snacks and drinks will be available throughout the rest of the train and picnics welcome. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station on the day.

The Sunset Steam Express will leave London’s Waterloo Station at 18:00 for a four hour round trip through the Surrey Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Dinner will be served en route in the elegant 1950’s Pullman Style Dining carriages.
The train will head south across the suburbs of London, pass through Guildford and take the steep climb through the Surrey Hills before descending the Vale of Holmesdale and back to Waterloo via the market towns of Dorking and Reigate.
Prices from £99 per person in Premier Dining up to £129 per person travelling Pullman Style Dining; a private compartment for four with dinner will cost £449. A standard ticket at £49 offers seating at tables where snacks can be purchased and picnics are welcome.

Tinkerbelle the Dog received the very best of British hospitality on her recent royal visit to London, staying at the St Ermin’s Hotel, a luxury 4-star hotel in Westminster, Central London and WixHill client.
Tinkerbelle enjoyed all the St Ermin’s had to offer, relaxing in her king sized bed in the hotel’s luxurious dog friendly rooms and enjoying a quintessentially British Afternoon Tea, complete with freshly made English scones topped with strawberry jam and clotted cream – all washed down with a glass of Champagne of course!
Tinkerbelle’s first day in London kicked off with a traditional English breakfast, complete with all the trimmings – the perfect start to a day of London sightseeing! Her visit took her to Buckingham Palace to see the Queen’s Guard, the Houses of Parliament, even as far as Platform 9 3/4 in her Gryffindor scarf.

Hot Caramel Chocolate
Ingredients:
- 450ml semi-skimmed milk
- 4 tbsp Bonne Maman Salted Caramel
- 100g milk chocolate, roughly chopped
- 2 tbsp instant malted chocolate milk drink powder (such as Horlicks)
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- Pinch of ground cinnamon
Method:
- Pour the milk and caramel into a saucepan and bring almost to the boil over a medium heat, stirring. Take the pan off the heat, add the chocolate and leave until melted.
- Meanwhile, mix together the malted milk powder, cornflour and cinnamon.
- Whisk the powder mix into the hot chocolate milk, put the pan back on the heat, bring to boil and whisk until smooth, thick and creamy. Pour into warm mugs or heatproof glasses.
- Top with a spoonful of cream, some flakes of chocolate and salted caramel
Caramel Chai
Ingredients:
- 2 chai tea bags
- 2 tbsp Bonne Maman Salted Caramel
- 300ml hot frothed milk
Method:
- Make a small pot of chai tea.
- Spoon the caramel into two mugs. Pour over the chai and stir to melt the caramel. Top with hot frothed milk and add cinnamon sticks to stir.
Halloween Tealights
Use your empty Bonne Maman jars to create some spooky, yet sophisticated tealights.
You will need:
- Black paper
- PVA Glue
- Tealights
- Your empty Bonne Maman jars
Simply cut out your choice of Halloween themed shape, we recommend printing out a template, cutting this out and then draw around the edges with a white pen on your black piece of paper.
Then put some PVA glue on the black card and stick onto your Bonne Maman Jar. Place the tealight candle into your jar and then place onto your doorstep or around the house.

The St Ermin’s Hotel, Westminster home to over 350,00 Buckfast Honeybees, is holding a series of taster urban beekeeping workshops during the summer months led by beekeeping guru, Camilla Goddard of Capital Bee. The popular workshops are held around the hotels six hives and will take place over the summer month’s www.sterminshotel.co.uk.
The 2.5-hour workshops outline the complexities of bee society and ‘bee-haviour’; highlight the close relationship between bees and flowers and give guidance on what to plant, when and where and how best to site hives in gardens or allotments. Participants also visit London’s first ‘Bee & Bee’ hotel on the hotel’s third floor bee terrace to get real hands-on experience handling bees, managing their hives and collecting raw honey.

Our iTrekHere trip returns from Canada!
Our adventurous iTrekkers returned in early July from their Mountie tour hosted by TrekAmerica. After arriving in Calgary, Alberta they began their tour with the epic Rocky Mountain Range as their backdrop for the evening. The adventure truly began in Banff National Park where they spotted resident Marmots, bears, porcupines and elk.
With lots of the influencers having never camped before this was definitely going to be a trip to remember – and we heard they certainly learnt the benefits of investing in WARM sleeping kit! The team cooking and cleaning was done in pairs or threes, and all the campers learnt how to make the campsites “bear aware” – a very important lesson when camping in Canada. We managed to get hold of their menu for the week which didn’t look too shabby…
